CostX take-off from drawings and BIM models.
2D and 3D quantification in CostX for MEP and infrastructure, combining model-based take-off with 2D measurement for anything the model leaves out.
Fast, accurate quantities you can audit.
A BIM model can produce quantities quickly, but only if the model is checked first and the gaps are measured properly. Cabling, small-bore pipework and many fittings are often not modelled at all, and a raw model schedule will quietly miss them.
Quantus runs model-based take-off in CostX, cross-checks the model against the 2D drawings, and measures the missing items from the drawings, so the final quantities are complete and every number links back to its source.
The Express BIM measurement process
1 · Model QA/QC
The 3D model is cross-checked against the 2D drawings before any quantities are taken.
2 · Model mapping & take-off
Bulk quantities extracted through model mapping or schedule extraction in CostX.
3 · 2D measurement
Items that are not modelled, such as cabling, measured from the drawings to complete the scope.
4 · BOQ or cost plan
Quantities drafted into a CostX workbook to the agreed standard.
5 · QA sign-off
Level 1 and Level 2 review, then issue with the CostX file included.
2D-only take-off
Where there is no model, full 2D measurement from PDF or DWG drawings.
What you receive
Complete quantities
Model and 2D measurement combined, so unmodelled items are not missed.
The CostX file
Issued with the workbook, so your team can audit, query or reuse every measurement.
7–14 day turnaround
From model to QA-signed BOQ in 7–14 days for most packages.
MEP and civils
Building services to NRM2 or POMI, and infrastructure to CESMM3 or CESMM4.
Common questions.
Can't see your question? Email projects@quantusqs.com or message us on WhatsApp.
Which files can you take off from?
PDF and DWG drawings, and BIM models in formats CostX can import, such as IFC.
What if the BIM model is incomplete?
Model gaps are identified during QA and the missing items are measured from the 2D drawings, so the quantities stay complete.
Do I get the CostX file?
Yes. The CostX file is issued with every take-off so your team can check and reuse the measurement.
How is the fee calculated?
Fixed fees in USD or NZD based on the size of the package. Fee proposals are usually issued within five working days.
